I don't know about Axis deer, but if I had the chance to shoot him, I would. I have heard the back straps on them melt in your mouth?

look closer at his main beam. He looks to have injured it just below where his caudal tine would have been just above the brow on the jacked up side. He's 4-5 years old and I'd say his good side is around the 34" mark as well. If you have other good ones roaming the property I would take him out.

Take one of your buds that has never killed an axis and that would be a very good trophy for some one's first axis. Just a thought, good luck any way you go.
