Beer is poisen? Surely you jest.

Bob, some of the aforementioned musicians did abuse drugs ; however the official cause of death is directly related to alcohol . Google search and read their bio's .

Another example - each year several college kids die from consuming way to much alcohol during fraternity bid night, or during hazing incidents .

Whether it's acute or chronic, people die from drinking themselves to death

Prayers for all that are affected by substance abuse and those around them that it affects.

Those that drink themselves to death do so on a daily basis, they wake up with a drink and go to sleep with a drink(that drink can be beer or liquor) and many more in between those times. It kills the liver, the kidneys, runs up blood pressure, and eventually causes alcoholic encephalopathy---kills the brain. It is a slow and gruesome way to go. A very, very slow suicide if you will. And that is exactly what it is. A slow, self imposed death.
I have seen it first hand with a couple loved ones and see it nearly every week when I am at work. It is a horrid way to go. Saddest part is when the person realizes what they are doing and can not get the strength to seek help. So entwined in the addiction that the addiction has totally taken over and they feel powerless to change it. This is where the "sister" is in this thread. There is hope, but she needs to make the move and have herself commited. No one can do that for her beyond a 3 day hold made by an MD if she lands in the ER.
Addiction, what ever the poison picked, is brutal and very cruel. It takes prisoners and seldom lets go.
When you wake up at 4:30am and have a beer while you get ready for work, drink 2 on the way to work, a couple at lunch time, 2-3 on the way home and then drink the rest of the evening, basically you have started drinking and can not stop. I was lucky that my wife came along when she did. She saved my life. My prayers are with anyone that is going through this type of problem.

I have an uncle that was like that. One day he decided to stop cold turkey...soon thereafter he had a stroke.

lost a good friend several years back to alcohol, specifically beer. He was a case a day addict until his liver gave out at 45. I once saw him go for 5 days straight without eating. He refused food, or anything else besides alcohol.

So sorry to hear Bowtech. Alcohol is a killer for sure. Ive seen more damage done from alcoholism. Its a disease. I dont think anything good every happens when people get drunk. I dont think its cool... and especially when you get behind the wheel of a car and kill people. At that point those who are caught need major prison time and mandatory rehab. I knew of a little girl that was killed coming home from youth camp many years ago by a drunk driver. Of course he lived but her daddy never got to walk her down the aisle. Its criminal and getting drunk is just dumb. Stop it!!

I had an uncle that died from alcohol. He would not eat either and would drink whatever he could get his hands on. He would even drink vanilla extract if that's all he could get. Tore his family apart and took his life way to young. I will say a prayer for you now.

My sister is a alcoholic and has been for 6 years, she's 30 now Sppy wrote a thread a while back about his uncle She doesn't realize what she is doing to her kids and and the rest of her family. I'm torn between being ****** at her for never listing to anyone and feeling bad for her. I'm posting this to maybe help a friend out. Please don't let the addiction get ahold of you.

prayers for all those facing this personally or in their families! For BigL; yes, family is worth getting in trouble for but getting into legal trouble will not make the situation any better. Might cause the sister to not associate with him as well. Too many families face this and when it hits close to home, drinking won't seem nearly as cool. You can drink ice tea and coffee and have just as much fun and you will remember it better. Sorry to hear of all the sadness so many are facing, see it too much! And yes, I used to drink but thanks to God, He showed me there was no benefit in it!
