I could be out of line by posting this,

This just outright angers me ! I heard this a few minutes ago and I can't believe people feel this way. I'll gladly take a day off and stay home with my family while they sit and wonder who is gonna show up. Imagine one day where there was no 911 in Houston ?

maybe they are bracing against the unions going on strike like in England. trying to garner support for the unions so if they are asked to take cuts in their retirement packages, or other austerity measures, they wont walk off the job.

You do realize this is put out by the IAFF. I do not think it is the general concenus of the citizens.

X3. "how many fire fighters do you need America?". Wow.. Understaffed and undermanned stations across the country- and over 70% of us are VOLUNTEERS!

I don't know who that first guy is in the clip, but I'd be OK with FF's not showing up at John Stoessel's or Glenn Beck's homes after comments like that.
I agree that their views are NOT representative of the general population of America.

And perhaps include our own governor as well

i am pretty sure Glenn Beck or John Stoessel do not really feel that way either. BUT since they have TV shows that depend on ratings, and consumers are addicted to drama, it makes for decent ratings.

but they can have blue and red flu.....

I know from going to the store to get groceries you would think we are superstars but the fact the the people who could really effect my already low paying job think this way is absurd.

I know for fact the Houston mayor is gunning for our pension again. She doesn't think we deserve it either.

I do believe they could have been outrageous without picking on people who literally save lives. And, yes, I do believe they really feel that way.

All government agencies will eventually feel the pain of the present economy. No way around it.

Sorry but that guy is just like an anti hunter.

The little graph he had. Wonder where the statistics come from? Is he counting volunteer firefighters too?
I can do the same stupid crap with a chart and ask. " How many people do we need in America?" That would be just as stupid.

I was a industrial firefighter. For him to say it is not in one of the top dangerous jobs is flat stupidity. To me that's the worst firefighting job next to fighting house fires.
Any job that gets people killed is a dangerous job and should not be rat hole labeled on a chart by category.
I'm also in a union and completely missed the point of how they come to that conclusion.

they came to that conclusions by facts, fact is being a firefighter isn't one the most deadliest jobs, yea people die doing it, but they also die roofing a house, fishing, logging, pilots, miners...all statistically have a higher death rates, with no government pension

HMMMM? I have a lot of firefighting friends and I support them. I grew up wanting to be one, but this stuff is taken out of context.
