I just kept one in the cooler for five days with no problem. Plenty of ice and drained morning and night.

Zero days here. I keep it in the bottom of the fridge for 5-7 days. Water and meat breed bacteria.

I had two does in a Yeti I borrowed from Rubydog.

After three days, that dang Yeti made so much ice I had to give in and process the deer.

                    true story....

I drain the water out once or twice daily. then keep it in the cooler another day once the water goes clear.

There is no definate time to soak a deer any butcher worth his salt will tell you two weeks is about the max if the meat has never been frozen before i go ten days most of the time and have eaten some of the best meat ever with never a problem but you have to stay on top of it and drain daily and keep plenty ice on it
