Haven ridden out storms in both 1 and 2-man tents, the extra money and weight for a 2-man is worth it.

Being able to have my pack inside with me, and to have room to actually cook a meal under the fly is priceless. I've ridden out 60-70 mph winds on top of the Guad's like this. Under that fly, it was nice and calm and warm.

Anyone get scouting trips planned yet? I'm CO bound June 12-15, I hope I'm not winter camping up high? I was up near our unit a couple weeks ago and had to slow down to 25 mph on I-70 around the Eisenhower tunnel due to the snow.

Anyone have suggestions for books to up my elk IQ? I know the elk playbook is popular, looking for other suggestions.

For those of you who need gear or are looking to upgrade gear, www.rei.com has a big sale going through the 25th of this month. Lot's of gear that is 20-50% off. Lot's of higher end tents like big anes with significant discounts. I went through all 60 pages of sale gear and didn't find a suitable pack. I stumbled upon the sale looking for the best place to buy a hammock. They have the Eno single on sale for $41.89 and the double for $48. You will not find those cheaper anywhere. They sell for around that used on ebay.

My brother is moving to Cortez, CO in July and I just got off the phone with a game warden in Durango. I did some homework last night on Google Earth and had him give me some pointers on drainages and access points. I am so used to hunting dark timber on the I-70 corridor that I am going to try and get some more open country this year. Unless I can't find any elk. Then back to the timber. I have a plan A and plan B right now, with a 4 day weekend on June to scout. We shall see what I can find.
