If you drew this tag congrats. Really neat country. My FIL lives there and hunts it well he used to hunt it. Its too rough for him now. Thick brush with alot of elk ,lions , bears and Coues deer.PM me if you want to be put in touch with my FIL.

I been hunting the west for about 7 years and have hunted that unit 6 years ago for muzzleloader mule deer. Few deer but saw a lot of elk. I forgot to mention I hired a guide due to my noviceness.
Congrats on the tag!!! I have hunted the Gila twice, both times Unit 15, and it was awesome both years. They were real wet and lots of water around. You done good getting a guide. I would suggest getting in good shape and shooting at longer distances while sitting/kneeling/hunched. I would have had a monster 5 years ago if I would have been comfortable shooting at 55 yards. Perfect conditions on a calm elk, but I was shaking like a leaf as he screamed at me from the meadow. I had only practiced to 45 and I still kick myself for not putting in the time to hone my craft.

Good news - you won't have to wait long!

Bad news - the anticipation gets worse by the day!
