Does it do anything when you turn it on? Can you boot to safe mode and do a restore?

no, first, can you post the specific part in the middle top third of the blue screen, generally referencing a filename and a 0x00000000 number or something close....

also, do you think you could crack open the case an 'reseat' the memory and power connectors?

Unplug it. Pull out battery. Leave it out for 30 seconds. Put battery back in. Power it up. Still blue screen?

Really. I've had people hang a laptop and not know how to force it to restart. I don't make any assumptions anymore.

We gave it to a guy to have it repaired two weeks ago and he said he was gonna create a recovery disk for it. I dont think he has even looked at it. Im going to his house in the morning to get it back and take it to someone who can get to work on it right away. My wife is having a nervous breakdown !

you would be surprised how often reseating the memory and the power connections will correct bSOD's.....but not knowing what the blue screen of death says, it's a guess....

jumping to the 'restore it' is generally the weak tech way out....

I can help you most likely...but I need more information...

I can get the computer back from this guy tomorrow and call you so you can walk me though it. Is that an option ?

it could be....but I would suggest trying the few easy things like that before I go to reinstalling windows....hell, for that matter it might be easier to get a new hard drive, put it in as the main drive, install windows on it and make the old drive the slave, like an external storage drive so you could get to everything....but as I said...it might actually just need to have stuff reseated....like I said, I can't tell you how many times I have seen that be the culprit
