I am more impressed by the pigs in East Texas. There are some big ones around Toledo Bend for sure. Sabine Forest and Davey Crockett have huge deer as well. Love the Piney woods!!!

I love east Texas. My dream is to own a large ranch with timber and river bottom in east Texas. I love the hunting dynamic there and the scenery. The difference is that in south Texas you can see these deer every year, east Texas that's much harder. If you find an area that isn't covered up in people with the attitude that they grew up there so they have a right to do whatever they want, you can have a real gem.

these are some great bucks. I hunt in Upshur co anybody around there? I have never seen deer of that size on our place I took a decent 10 about, jeez must have been 6 years or so ago but that is the biggest deer taken from out place

I'm in upshur co too, i gotta 12 on camera the past 3 yrs but he's a ghost,, 3am-5am he's a toad. I hunt right off of old 80

Upshur county is one of the best in East TX, just depends on how close you are to the Trammel Crow place and Holly Lake Ranch.

Upshur Co. is a good place to hunt and live.
But I agree as mentioned above:
"THERE ARE NO DEER IN EAST TEXAS".
Stay away the ones that are here (very few) don't even taste good, there bad!

Hmmm not sure where those are maybe im just oblivious to my surroundings
Our place is about 5 miles outside of Gladewater and in between there and Gilmer down Locust road if any of yall know where that is I woul be impressed.

Our place has a lot of smaller pieces of land around it which I really dont like but there is a big lease that backs up to us that has some great cover for deer to bed in

But regardless it sure is encourageing to see some great bucks coming out of East Tx with all the awful stories floating around the forums

EDIT: Just looked it up and we are about 15-20 miles east of the Holly Lake Ranch whatever that is worth
