                              Ouch! There is gonna be months of physical therapy to recover from an injury like that.

                              One thing to note on those straps that many folks ignore is color change. Even if the strap isn't fraying or getting fuzzy a color change is a sign it's loosing strength. When the color starts to fade on those straps replace them.

                              Screw in steps and sticks can be hazardous even if you are wearing a restraint. If you happen to hit one before the restraint stops you, they can rip a chunk out of you.

                              Ameristep's Rapid Rails and Summit's Buck Steps are safer alternatives to screw in steps and climbing sticks.
