I LOVE the little ones!! Its the big ones that eat up all the corn and scare our deer away that seem to be the problem.

aghntr10 - I was kinda hopin you were just messin around about the gut shooting.

As far as shooting them with the pellet gun, it doesn't seem to be a bad idea. Although I have one of those gamo "adult" air guns that shoots at 1000 fps, I dont know how much damage that might cause (if any).

If I were you I'd advertis some hunts. I have lots of friends who are SCI hunters and they are having trouble finding a place to hunt javis. I agree with TXTIMETRAVELER . They are becoming more sought after then ever. Once hogs get to your place they will take over and the javis will move out. I think if the feral hogs aren't controlled now and in the future the javis will be really hard to find.

If your interested in making some money, send me a email and I'll pass it on down to the trophey hunters.

      Goodluck!!

Shootin' 'em with pellet rifles/bb guns is illegal... that's harrassment. Had some buddies shoot em with paintball guns and got wrote up for it... I'd love for our javi' pigs to be replaced by feral hogs! If that happened, I'd be able to drop my hog lease and just keep my deer lease. The javi pigs are great bow targets for new hunters, and make a great trophy for beginners, but beyond that, I ain't got no use for them. Some of our hunters actually built feeder pens out of hog panels to keep 'em out, and after a while, they quit coming in at all. They seem to move to the feeders that don't have the pens. We strongly encourage all our guests to take them if at all possible.

I don't know what everyone disses the javi's so much for...personally my all-time favorite type of hunting is stalking a big boar javelina with my bow, you never know what they are going to do...I guess I just got hooked because my first bowkill was made that way, but it came back after me...it was really intense...ask my friends, when I go hunting with them at their places in south Texas many times they have to sit with me so I won't shoot one

i agree they are fun game to hunt but at the same time there little corn stealers 6.35 for 50 lbs bag x 75 bag a year can git you allittle made when those little bugers come out in 10-20 in a heard and suck up all your corn in 5 mins. we had them really bad are 1st-3rd year(01) in the 300 acres we have in jim wells co. but started to thin out over the years. that all it takes i think is alittle presure and theyll leave or go nocturnal just like pigs. but there still really fun to sneak up on and bust one in the gas pump every now and then
              happy huntin!!!!!!!!!!!!!
