I heard from Brian that he has a farmer plowing near him. But it is the rut. Full swing! And a storm front coming through tonight. Wish I was out there.

Hope to hook up with everyone on Thursday. I have been taken out of the game this year. Trying to buy a house with tons of inspections, contractors, etc. Got my 1 and only rut hunt in last Friday and sat 12 hours. Saw 4 squirrels.

Will grab the rifle and head back out to where I shot my big buck last rifle season this weekend. Gonna be crazy crowded...but it produced last year, so I would be stupid not to try it again.

From what I hear, they will sit tight until about noon, and then swap. Rain is suppose to move in around 2pm. Brian in the protection of the blind, and Scott will play with a tree umbrella.

Brian's the thinnest blooded Yankee (Michigan) I've ever seen! He says it's 36 degrees but I show 56 on 2 web sites. They drove all the way to KC last night to get him warm boots.



He'll sit this ground blind in the distance if the rain starts.

Hey...don't dog the man for getting the Texas thin blood. I got thin blood and remember being embarrassed on my Texas lease when it was 40 and I was shivering in the stand. Now...after hunting up here for two years...the blood is thicker (not to mention the added layer - result of my wife's great cooking).

Unfortunately, no. I LOVE filming. But since I only have one doe in the freezer (not much left) I have to head out with the rifle this weekend. Got the kitchen pass to be away Friday night AND Saturday night. So although I won't be camping, I will be in a Super 8! Need to put some venison down.

Might hook up on Thursday when you touch down at KCI...not sure yet on timing of everything. I might try and sneak out for Thurs afternoon as my last rut bowhunt. All depends on the house situation. What time does your flight get in?

11:15 Thursday morning is when I land in KC.

I'm going to be setting up my Ground Blind and Delta Target/Decoy, where "all" the deer in the cut-soybean valley can see him.
Hopefully someone will want to come and kick his butt.

Is taking a tree umbrella and setting at the convergence of several creeks in a ladder stand this afternoon and evening.

Rain is supposed to be coming our way.
