Any Duck Hunters? Need help with the Feed Call

Ok I am dugga dugga and ticka tickaed out. I cant make that dang call and I have practiced every day for the last 3 weeks for 1 hour a day on my drive to work. Does anyone have any tips? I am bound and determined to learn to do the feed call with out using a primos shaker call. I have the first part of the note...tic but the ka I run out of air it seems like. In fact I can go tic tic tic all day long. Its when I go tic ka I start loosing the ka and it turns into tic tic tic.......If you dont duck hunt I guess this all sounds pretty dang funny but I need some help. I have 3 more weeks before I head out and do some duck hunting and I need to have this down. I have a older fauks single reed call and a buck gardner double nasty. II Thanks for the help!

Quack, quack always worked for me!!

But seriously, I had trouble with that as well but didn't duck hunt too much.

Try some really short runs and mix in some quacks and other calls as needed. Also, the shaker calls that look like they are from a sex shop work. Doesn't look as cool but can be effective.

Man I had a hard time at it at first make sure your tongue is relaxed enough for it to roll a little bit not to much or it will sound bad

If you cant feed call, just make a series of short cut down quacks. Feed call is a little over rated anyways, most of the feed call's sound like a flock of mallard's chattering overhead. Incorporate some nasally gadwall quack's and a few short teal tweet's. Way too many duck's make it through due to over calling.

Primos makes a call you can just shake. Other than that practice is the only way to get it. A feeding mallard
call isn't necessary. Most of the time simple quacks and whistling will get birds.

Keep practicing. It will come. What call are you using?

One more tip. Don't drink a 12 pack and expect it to happen

I had to laugh out loud at this. Can't offer any advice, just tell you to keep practicing.

I was in a blind one morning in a rice field near Katy, and there was another group not too far away. After flaring several flocks, one of the nearby hunters asked very politely, but veeerrrry loudly, "WOULD YOU MIND NOT USING THAT PARTICULAR CALL?" I put the call in the shell bag and didn't blow it again in a blind until I could dugga dugga ticka ticka better than a duck. :-)

Dude, I can feed call all day long, but I think it is over rated. Get a whistle, and wench call. Do some hails at their tails, and then whistle/bleet on passing. It will work. There are more important things than feed calls. Like being still and covering yourself up.

Thanks guys for the help. I have killed ducks for years and never once even tried to hit them with a feed call but this year I really want to learn it. Not the Contest feed call but a normal feed chatter.

                            This ^^^^

You can get a lot more confidence out of a whistle than a feed call...

And remember, wingtips and tail feathers !!!!

I say gidda gidda into the call, but its not goin to be somthing you can master in 3 weeks. Everyone I know that calls says something different. The best addvise i have is just pick the one that you can say into the call the best and stick with that. You have to train your tounge and vocals on that sound. Start slow, dont try to get ahead of yourself by tryin to go to fast. Like shooting your bow after you get tired, does more bad than good.
I used to allways have a call in my truck and practice while driving. Hope this helps good luck.

Are you blowing a single reed or a double reed call??
I think the single reeds sound better but are harder to feed call with!
