The same could be said of every animal taken I Africa.
The hunter only gets to return with hides and horns, no meat.
But I'm sure they eat a steak while they are there.

Also, I was under the impression that all hunts in Africa were high fence.
(hundreds of thousands of acres, but still high fenced)

All that said, I say who cares.
It is a hunt for enjoyment and trophies.
Think of it as if a hunter in Texas filled all his deer tags but donated all the meat to hunters for the hungry.

It may not be for you, but that doesn't mean it isn't for somebody. I'd rather shoot a zebra than a 160" deer. Plus, zebra does taste good.

Lets just say if I was invited to go on a hunt for said animals, I would not turn it down.

I don't know if I would want to shoot a giraffe or an elephant, however, if given the opp and somebody else was paying LOL, I would be all over it. And, all I've ever heard is that an elephant will feed a village for some quite time.

The other piece that isn't being mentioned is the monetary value those animals have. I haven't priced them but I would suspect that it cost a TON of money to hunt lion, elephant's, etc and I'm sure a portion of that money goes back to the villagers as well.

It's this intrinsic value that has eliminated a majority of the poaching and created a huntable population of animals.

I'd have agreed with you until I saw the clip of the guy get attacked by the leopard he was hunting. Now I might take a boomstick.

Yeah, I saw that. That's why my guide will be carrying a mini-gun to cover me.

Good lord, how much would it cost to fence that many acres. Can only imagine.

Only with my camera....not into killing any of them that I can't honestly say I would enjoy eating. Their habitat is so narrow now.....just can't get mad enough at any of them to kill them. I'll let others who feel the need do it....I'll chase big fish instead....real big fish.

Nothing against those that do...just glad I have other things that stoke my fire when hunting season ends.
