You know...there was a time...not too long ago...this place was a great place to share.

I sure do miss the old days around here. Course..the more I read...the more I realize....those days are long gone...and the industry as a whole....is headed somewhere else...a place I don't recognize anymore. Judgment seems to be at the forefront of everything....oh well...heading out for another round of big fish in South Texas.

Clearly, the OP was truly trying to get first hand experience so that he could form a more informed opinion before casting stones. Surely we should have all been able to read between the lines...

        Let me help you though...

        A) in order to become enlightened about the ways and means surrounding the methods implemented behind 100,000 acres, refrain from using the key word "pen"

        B) instead of saying "I've never seen someone say "yummy, Giraffe steak tonight!", sit down with the locals for a meal

        C) Control your inner voice and don't call folks A-Holes

        And...

        D) no one likes an Internet tough guy

FWIW, I am a conservationist at heart. I am all for shooting and killing animals for food, even for sport in some situations. If the animals in question are being regulated by a resources program of some sort, like our state TPWD here, and the animals are being taken legally, then I have no issue with it at all. I especially like it if the meat is being used.

Now, if it's unregulated or illegal, I'm against it. Over hunting and illegal hunting in Africa has pushed some species close to extinction. That doesn't seem to be the question here though, so...

I have no interest in hunting in Africa because there are perfectly legit animals here in the USA that I have never hunted: Moose, Elk, bear, etc. and those don't require a trip to Africa. But, I have no problem with Africa hunting for Elephant and giraffe if it is regulated.

I've watched your posts since you have been on here and many are just to stir the pot. I know this one was started for the same reason. From your prior posts I've read there is no way you are naive enough to believe that this wouldn't cause problems as you seem to be a smart guy. I regularly form opinions of members on here and have been trying to cut you some slack before forming one of you since you are new. I believed your post about "should have worded it differently" but then the A Hole comment crossed the line. I'd ask that you bow out of this thread and think before you hit post reply from now on.

It's called editing.....it's TV. Instead of playing the "poor uninformed dumb" card defense, google the subject. Go to the library, check out books and read. Try some from Capstick, he paints a realistic picture based on the time he hunted there. Another forum is an outstanding resource with many first hand accounts w/ pics from everything from customs to getting your mounts home and everything in btw.. I wont name it, you can research it and find it yourself if you truly want to become informed on hunting Africa. Get halfway educated before you start a thread knowing you're going to offend a bunch of good hardworking folks...

I don't have a problem with it.If it's legal and you can afford to go to Africa and shoot critters why wouldn't you?Too many people ask why.I'm the kind of person that ask,why not? We're only on this Earth for a little while so if you have the opportunity to make memories that will last for the rest of your life I don't see why that would be a bad thing. Is anyone gonna miss that giraffe 50 years from now?Are they gonna look up into a tree and see leaves on the branches at the very top of the tree and wonder "Why hasn't a giraffe eatin those leaves yet?"It aint gonna matter.Would I shoot a giraffe? No I don't think I would. Not because I'm against it but because if I get the opportunity to go to Africa I'm gonna be hunting animals that are capable of hunting me too. Why???Because I think that would be alot more fun.Besides that I could get a full body mount done on a Lion or a Leopard and still get to keep them in the house.

Post #31 is what stirred the pot on this topic, it was not Twiztd. He was asking questions and getting straight answers, with no arguments or name calling up until this point. All of you who are ranting at him for stirring the pot right now are being hipocrits(sp?). There was nothing wrong with this post until someone started taking shots at him, then it all went downhill from there in a giant peeing contest.

I am absolutely amazed at what you just wrote, it is quite obvious that you don't know anything about Africa. "Wildlife Pen" you can't possibly beleive that.
That would be like saying that in the hole USA, all animals are hunted in small pens, including elk, wild sheep, ect.
Spend 10-20 days in a row tracking elephant 10 to 30 miles a day in the gusu sand when it is close to 100 degrees and tell me it is like shooting them in a pen. I have 2 friends that were tusked by ele's, one spent 6 months in a hospital the other is dead.

Some people have problems with hunting lions, wild lions and the breeder stock that is being killed off in South Africa is not even close to being the same.

South Africa is a lot like Texas there are many high fence places that you can hunt most anything, some wild some not so much. Most of africa is not fenced
how exactly did this stir the pot???? this is post #31. i think maybe you should go back and look at post #13.
