the clearances would be more concerned with felony arrest warrants over midemeanor warrants, unless you needed top secret. the drivers license ones crack me up tho

There is a statute of limitations. But if a suspect or offender is known and a warrant is issued with in that time frame, then it will never expire. Also small towns don't always enter their traffic warrants into state wide (DPS) data bases. There fore the warrant will only show up in their systems. But like stated previously, with the economy doing so bad, I bet more small towns will start entering their warrants statewide.

Similar thing happened to my sister-in-law. She was actually taken in from her job (special ed teacher), processed, put in a jumpsuit and placed in the general population area. All for a 12 year old warrant for a bounced $5 check.

Wow. Pretty scary that they let someone without a warrant go so long without a word. Maybe there was a glitch in the computer system.

Doubt it. If they do that and the subject is arrested in a town 6 hours away they have to pay an officer on duty to transport. That means 6 hours out and 6 hours back, + vehicle, + gas, etc. Not worth it. That's why most agencies have agreements with LOCAL agencies and have a separate database with those agencies. The local warrants only show up on the local database where the municipality is willing to send an officer to pick them up.

You are right about that. But if they enter into DPS, then it will show up when they try and renew their license. They won't be able to renew it till the, warrant is paid. I know they wont be arrested. I know the small town I used to work for wasn't reporting traffic warrants to DPS. But they were talking about it when I left.

                        This is true..

I got a ticket in Euless in like 1995.. I paid the ticket.. In 2000 I got pulled over in Uvalde and they said I had an unpaid ticket warrant out of Usless.. The only reason I didnt go to jail is because Euless would not come get me..lol

Called the court and they finally found record of where I paid and they got it cleared up.. I have the letter from the court in my safe showing it cleared up!
