I guess I just though I remembered that cash had to be accepted. Makes since that some places would not want to keep it around.

That is so they can track and tax the transactions. No paper trail on a cash sale.

we just didn't want the risk of holding cash there at the agency due to the large amount of money that came in each and every day for payments. For a robber, it would have a BIG target on it and/or the person carrying the moneybag out each evening to drop off at the bank

Looks like they will be cutting down illegal activity. Well, in theory anyways It is the govornment after all.

I think most of the guys in the metal scrap biz have an idea that some of their stuff is stolen. I could be wrong but that is my limited experiance from when I built houses and the plumbers tried to track down stolen copper.

I do a LOT of copper recycling. I don't mind taking a check for my scrap at all. Actually I prefer a check considering some of the folks you might see hanging around the scrap yard.

Hardy says the bill is targeted at criminals who steal anything from copper to televisions, and sell them for a quick buck. Having a paper trail will make it easier for law enforcement.

"It's a mechanism to be used so the police department has something to go on and have a lead," explains Hardy
nah, the state is just trying to make as much of a "revenue investment" back into their coffers as much as possible. what a crock

i think Cali just enacted similar legislation. I can almost guarantee it has nothing to do with catching crooks and more to do with taxation.

Until they start doing what the county does. Went to regester my bkie and noticed they charge 7.85% to use plastic.
