Found the speed stud that flew off. Gonna take it to a shop tomorrow. Anyone in the Conroe area recommend one above another? I know of two here.
Take it to BowZone in Spring. See Richard or Joey. They are top notch guys and they really know how to put a bow back together after a derail or dryfire. Don't ask me how I know.
It happens, especially when you're new. Just think of it this way, you just had a lesson. Now you won't do it again and could very possibly stop someone else from doing it.
I would seriously look at replacing the string and cables.
that bow has a lifetime warranty on it. i would check with quest before the aftermarket strings. it really shouldn't be a big deal but never hurts to ask. great people to deal with and very understanding techs. they know that things happen glad your ok. might even help you out. i had string unravel and they took care of it through BP.
i never had this honor yet knock on wood.
i shoot a primal also
Man. I know this is probably the dumbest, most typical newbie thing ever. But I was practicing drawing and getting used to my anchor point with my rest and I accidentally flicked the trigger. Bow dry fired. String looks intact and is still tight, but some of the wrapping around where my peep was set has come loose, and one of the meta studs from G5 has flown off somewhere. Is my bow doomed? Or can I just get the string replaced?
Bring it ot me at C&S..... We'll get it taken care of... TR
Stuff happens. Don't beat yourself up more than you already have... just don't do it again Definitely take it somewhere to be checked by someone. Hope there is little to no damage.
ever heard anybody say they had an on purpose dry fire?
lesson #1-- NEVER draw your bow without an arrow on the string. Cost for said lesson is apparently $60!
glad it was not worse!! you will be back in no time!
Posted this before.. Never ever draw your bow with an arrow unless you are pointed at a target or an animal. Dumbest folk lore I ever heard.. I would rather have a completely distroyed bow, than a dead child or wife or Neighbor or Dog from an arrow that was shot while practicing your anchor point.
Take bow to shop. Let them put it through the test before you pull on it. Should be fine....
agreed Kriv!! But it would stand to reason that if you are drawing bow with an arrow, it would be pointed in a safe direction without the chance of shooting a wife kid or dog.
