    Accidental Dry Fire!!

Man. I know this is probably the dumbest, most typical newbie thing ever. But I was practicing drawing and getting used to my anchor point with my rest and I accidentally flicked the trigger. Bow dry fired. String looks intact and is still tight, but some of the wrapping around where my peep was set has come loose, and one of the meta studs from G5 has flown off somewhere. Is my bow doomed? Or can I just get the string replaced?

They gonna hang ya up for this one ex " I never draw without an arrow, never have finger on trigger etc...." but I would take it to a bowshop an have it looked over

Tough call. Not sure if I would trust my bow had it been dry fired. Could have unseen damage and crack on you in the future.

Yeah. The arrow was a must. Wasn't thinking at all. I did make sure to have my finger behind the trigger and pushing forward. But my release seems super sensitive, or maybe I'm just too green on bows to have a feel for it. I barely knicked it as I was letting down!

I feel like an idiot, and am totally bummed.

I bet your the first one to ever do that.... The serving on your peep can be reserved easy enough and you can do that, just check you tube and you can find a video. If you have a bow shop locally I would recommend you take it there and let a tech look at it. If not feasible to do so then check it over very closely for any hairline cracks, other frays on the string/cable, make sure cable and string are in the right slots, put on body armor, no kidding if you do decide to test it by drawing put on a heavy jacket, eye protection, head cover and check it a little at a time. Get a friend or wife or kid to watch your cams for any odd movement. If it is a Hoyt then don't worry about it cause they dry fire their 15,000 times with no problem. Good luck.

                X2

I had my string slip off the cam once when it was brand new. I had a string leech in the wrong place and it derailed on my first draw!

Im by far not a noob at this... It happens sometimes.

If any body gives you too much grief about it, tell them to think back and make sure they never made a mistake!

Thanks for the reassurance, guys. There are a couple bow shops locally. I'll have them check it out. There is some fraying/broken part on the string. There's the main part of the string(blue) and a black part that winds around it(black) the black part, as well as the winding on the peep are messed up. Not gonna try to fix it myself. I'll spend a little money for my mistake.

A REPUTABLE bow shop. I would not trust my safety to some of the guys at the big stores.

that is a good bow you might be good. That fact that it did not come flying apart is a good sign
