Call first. I called a week before the hunt and was told that they had made a decision to allow baiting. I brought a couple of bags of corn. Apparently, they want to see what numbers they need to harvest before they allow it. A lot of guys got there and were making trips to get corn when they could have been hunting.

I've hunted there several times and they always have allowed baiting on the javelina hunts. I always call ahead to make sure.

As for the original thread starting question, bait several likely areas in your compartment and check them to see which ones they are hitting. Once the javelina find the corn they will keep hitting it.

For the youth hunts, Chaparrel personnel pre-baits the designated youth blind for each compartment. I would bait several areas but concentrate on the youth blind at least at the beginning of the hunt.

This is a great hunt for the kids. When my kids were younger they killed several javelina at Chaparral.
