You need to find out what codes were set and go from there. Sounds like it could be the cam sensor. Could also be the high pressure oil pump, or many other things. By checking the codes it gives you a good starting point instead of guessing and just changing parts and it not working. If you need some help give me a call 713 291 9931 Jim.

I am going to run it by the mechanic I use Fri when I am off and get him to check for codes with his computer, I thought they had to have the light on to check them

sounds like cps....been through several on my 01....keep one in the truck now.
