computer should remember the codes....I guess when you let off it is possible that it corrects itself and erases code but I doubt it erases the thrown code

There is a box they can hook to the truck that will let you drive around until it acts up, push a button on the box and it will capture the last code it threw, then they can check it out at the mechanic

Yep, that is what the guy at the tranny shop did to figure out what the issues was.

Could be cam sensor injectors or a short. I just had to replace my wiring harness and computer on my 7.3. It was doing the same thing you're describing. Cost 1100 to fix.

I would go over to the F-150 forums also and do a search and I bet there is a few threads with the same issues.

Had the same issue with my 04. I thought it was tranny also because it just felt like that. Changed spark plugs. Fixed issue. I had 90k miles and knew it was due.

Have you changed the spark plugs ? I have had them seem to run wright at idel but when I would accelorate they would run like crap. May be the cheapest thing to start with

Change plugs, clean throttle body, and MAF.

I've got a buddy who has an 05, his does the same thing, he'll loose power and wont be able to accelerate properly. He'll have to turn the truck off then turn it back on. And then His wrench light will come on to just randomly and he has to pull over turn it off and turn it back on.

Yrs ago my truck would sudder and miss badly ONLY under hard acceleration. Took a while to figure it out but the problem was old clogged up fuel filter. under hard acceleration, engine could not get enough fuel.

Try to accelerate again would do it again. Owners manual says flashing light means engine misfiring. Any idea the problem ? I was thinking cam sensor ? Safe to drive 30-40 miles ? Any input appreciated.
Check for any recall notices as well. Had an 05' expi, running rough as I accelerated, couldn't get any power, etc, turns out bad fuel injector that had been recalled. Good thing too b/c it had caused a bent rod (not sure how), but Ford put a new block in because of it. Got lucky on that one with no extended warranty.

Just went and drove it again. Same problem not light. Think I will start with plugs and filter.

should still throw a code....since you're going to the parts store, have them scan it

When was the last time the fuel filter was changed?
I had a powerstroke that acted just like you are describing and it turned out to be a filter inside the tank.
It would run fine at low speeds but would bog down and buck if I tried to speed up.
