    tire sidewall repair?

I just put new tires on my truck and have already picked up a thorn in the sidewall.
It's a leaker and midway between the rim and the tread. Very small hole probably no bigger than a pencil lead.
Can this be fixed or do I need to go drop another 200 buck on a new tire?

I have always been under the impression you aren't supposed to repair a sidewall but a small puncture hole like that I would feel comfortable having it patched.

You will have to go to a small shop. The big dealers can't fix by law i was told.

At our shop the mechanic plugs or patchs the tread area. Sidewall puncture gets a new tire. Sidewalls are built different than tread area and have to be treated different. Hopefully you bought road hazard certifcates and they will pro-rate the tire for you.

New tire. It might last or it might blowout going 75 mph.

New tire. A lot less cheaper than a new truck!

If you get it patched use it as the spare.

Buy the new tire and pay for the road hazard warrenty. Ask if it is too late to buy the warrenty on your other new tires. They will pay for themselves over and over if you are driving around the ranch much. Mine certainly have. Patching a sidewall aint worth the risk of your life or someone else's.
