This is the answer--or if you are close enough to check frequently, use a Conibear cubby like this one baited with banana flavored moon pies.

I have a big problem, but managed to shoot one of them on Saturday night. Still need to find a solution that works when I'm not there. Not sure how I feel about grease.

Cages work but they have to be far enough from the plate that the little devils can't stretch that foreleg in there and spin it while hanging on the cage--either from the side or bottom.

Thinking about rigging an electric fence around it some way and using a solar charger. Anyone ever try something like that?

looks like i have found what will keep coons from climbing my feeders. bought some tanglefoot from ace hardware and applied it to my feeder legs about 3 weeks ago. had a couple try to climb, but they quit. no coons AT ALL climbing my feeders. all they do is eat from the ground like all the other animals.

its something used on trees that keeps ants and such from climbing the trees. its a natural based really sticky, jelly like substance. its been on for 3 weeks or so and still as soft and sticky as the day i put it on.

I put my little 17hmr to use when I was at the lease and thinned out the population a little bit

I just put an electric fence around the timer/spinner. It's been up for about 10-12 years now. I have 0 coon issues.

We have added some lenghts of 4" PVC pipe sleeves to the legs of our feeders. They are wired at the top of the feeder leg. Have some cameras out on the feeders to see if they are working.
