Put it on a a few days before so it dries really well. Supposed to be good for 5-6 washings.

I've used Permethron (sp) and never have had 1 problem. You spray it on your clothes, let them dry, and you're good to go for 2 weeks. It drys nearly odorless. I got it at Sportsman's Warehouse.

I don't bother to put anything on because this works so good. OFF is a good prevenative, but not for hunting. Put the polish on the bite and it quits itching and kills them.

chiggers don't bore into the skin, the inject an digestive enzyme that irritates the skin and produces the red bumps. Which leads people to believe they do, and to put polish on the red bump suffocates them. This is a myth, all the nail polish does is seals the area off from the air, which keeps the sore from itching so badly.

In case that you do get them it will take up to three weeks for them to die. I had them before, the only way to get rid of them is to take a hot bath, filll the tub with hot water the hotest you can stand, summerged yourself 35 to 45(be carefull with hot water) min this will kill them they can't survive hight temperatures.

Permanone is the answer--for ticks, chiggers, and 'skeeters. Just apply per the instructions a week before the hunt, let it dry and hang outside in the fresh air for 3-4 days.

Putting clear polish on them won't do a lot of good as the damage is already done when they "spit" into the wound in your skin-injecting their foreign proteins in their saliva is what makes that maddening itch, and it takes your system a couple of days to a week to get rid of it.
