    Long Range Shooting Schools???

Does anyone know of a long range rifle shooting school in Texas? I've developed some poor (by my standards) shooting habits due to e few things I think. I went 6 years without hunting with a rifle, I got heavy into duck hunting, and bought a mule kicking caliber rifle. This shoulder beater is the one I decided to start back rifle hunting with. I am still very efficent in killing a deer out to around 300yds but my grouping isn't where I want it. I'd like to find someone to help me break my habits. When I flinch shooting a crossbow... Yeah I've got a problem. Where, how much, and what can I expect from the school? Thanks in advance

buy a led sled and plenty of weight for it, it takes all the punishment away from shooting big calibers. Could also start shooting a lighter caliber, i found i wasnt flinching to the recoil but the sounds along with the recoil, the led sled took that away and now my groups are alot better

try aiming and squeezing off with snap caps for practice. We also have a washer/dime drill we use in the military when we dry fire practice

I started plinking with a .22 to try and get rid of some of it. I did also buy a .308 with almost no recoil. I agree, it's as much the sound as anything. I started wearing ear protection even with the .22 as well. I'd like to go to the school to learn all the technics of calculating moa and all that too.

I seem to remember seeing one on a TV show that was at the SCI convention or advertised through them.

I'd contact SCI Dallas and see it they can point you in the right direction. It was on there show.

I know there's a school in the Hill Country but I think they focus on field shooting as it's a prep school for Africa.

You could always bite the bullet so to speak and attend Gunsite in Prescott AZ.

            Good luck.

I know the owner of TacPro Shooting Center near Mingus. They have a very good school.I believe they teach up to 1000 yards. Heres a link to their site.

I have had a couple of friends that have went thru this one. They have had nothing but praises for them. There long range shooting skills have improved 3 fold since taking their classes.

There is a pretty good one in San Diego, California that I attended about a decade and half ago or so. I am sure it has changed a little, but I am sure you still get a nifty new haircut, some cool new hunting clothes, and the ammo is free....

Jooger, if you have alreadysaid the word flinch, and you have , a release trigger will change you world, i shoot release trigger for shotgun. When you get used to it it is better than pull trigger . On the other hand i shot BB gun for practice on the way to release, but eventually i gave up. try it and do not give up.

I'm thinking about starting a long range training class near Houston. Something on the weekends Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. Teach MOA with Turret type scopes, 100 yards to 1000 yards. How to dope the wind, read mirage, estimate bullet drift, accommodate for temperature, elevation, angle, etc. I have been through long range shooting school and have been setting up rifle systems as a hobby. I will also put long range rifles (0-1000yards) together ready to hunt if anyone is interested.

                            My Rifle System

                            400 yards

                            850 yards
