And Richard, yes, I was the recipient of that wonderful bow, and I am still in possession of it and I do not own another.
Every anniversary I usually post the story, but as of late it has been quite difficult. Look for it around the first week of December.
Semper Fi, Zak, I hope you're still resting in peace. Thank you and your family for the sacrifices you all have made.
I know his Bow means the world to you and please continue to put this story on here every year. Sometimes people forget the sacrifices our Soldiers make.
Richard,
I certainly will. And you're right, it does mean the world to me. Being a vet myself not a day goes by that I don't remember. And every time that bow comes out of the case I remember even more.

Richard,
Thank you.
I've worked with a lot of good people over my years, and I lost a few good friends, a few great friends, and even heard a 21 gun for a family member. But as hard as it is to believe, it never hit as hard as it did when we lost Zak. I don't know if it was because I was numb, blind, or crazy...I was on the other side of the fence and understood what it was that was being fought for. It's amazing the view that the greener grass provides...but give me one day, just one single day...and I'd go back into it in a minute.
Thank you to every one of you that stops a soldier on the street or in an airport and says..."Hey, thanks for wearing that."

I thanked a Soldier just the other day and he almost seemed shocked and after a few minutes talking with him we seemed like we known each other our whole lives. He told me stories that would scare the heck out of most people and yet he said he loved it when they had gun battles. He really believed in fighting for freedom and was ready to die for it. He had just gotten back from Afganistan.
