    Corn Crop

Ok they just said on the news that there was a bumper corn crop and it should drop the price on a lot of things... Where is the savings in deer corn??

Ethanol is at least one of the culprits. That, and the higher cost of shipping due to fuel costs.

The thing that irritates me the most is when the barrel of oil goes up we feel it immediately but when it comes down it takes forever for it to get to the consumer.
Man I need a beer. Sorry for the rant

Was it a bumper on a smart car? Almost all the Texas corn burned up and most of the corn belt was late planting due to flooding. They are still a long way from harvest there.

Talked to a buddy from Illinois and they're still at least a month away from harvesting. Said they have a great corn crop.

I forgot about all the flooding up north, I guess we will see some releif after they harvest. I am forgotten what rain is, Keeping my fingers crossed we are fixing to get hit. They are saying it will on be 1/4 in but that is better than nothing.

just drove from minnesota home to Texas

the route goes through lots of corn.

it's hard to describe how much land is planted in corn, and that's just the part I could see from the interstate.

Most of it is doing well.

Please please please let the price drop happen before tomorrow evening.. Prove Smart wrong.. I gotta buy a buncha bags tomorrow....

side note...does anyone (besides farmers with silos) buy corn in off season and store it?
if so..how? 50 gallon drums sealed?
thinking about doing this next year...

Last year was a 34 billion pound shortage in Texas so even a good crop will only even out perhaps.

You can buy as much as you want whenever you want from the bin, they are just going to charge you for storage and sacking. If the price rises as long it's more than the storage cost you can sell it back for a profit. You're basically renting their silo.
