    Need help with an AR

Fellas I need some input. I am looking for a good AR with a reasonable price, tell what you like. I am a starving college student, and I dont want to spend much more than 1000. I am a starving college student, or I would just go get exactly what I want. So if you gues could help i would be grateful.

ps. If all you are going to say is how terrible the AR is, or tell me something else I should get dont say anything. Its a gun for fun.

    thanks

One or the other... Just kidding. You can build a "good" one for less than a $ - spend the additional money on optics.

DPMS here and got it for under $900.00 and put about another $300.00 into it, but it works...

I just saw a nice DPMS at Independence Firearms for $640 this weekend.
I couldn't build one like it for that price. Just shop around there are some deals to be had out there right now.

Are you wanting weapon and optics for that price?

Spike's Tactical ST15. I'm sure you've never heard of them but check their website & look @ reviews on AR15.com . By FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR the best bang for your buck AR. Should be about $850 complete.

Spikes is good, DPMS is good, Olympic Arms is good, Yankee Hill is good... all of these make decent entry level rifles. Depending on what you are going to use it for and how many rounds you are going to put through it, you may want to look at a slightly used one.

Look at Palmetto state armory at pamlettostatearmory.com the specs look great and they are perfect for what you want and there is no wait like Spikes currently. I just bought one of the CHF uppers with a Troy rail and it is a very nice upper for the cash.

Oh and don't waste your money on a carbon AR or a DPMS. You can do 100 times better for the same money. Buy online. Trust me. If you need help, pm me and I'll walk you through it. Don't go to a retail store to buy an AR. You are getting hosed.

Colt is nice but you pay for the name. Not that they are bad, but they can be equaled for less. I've got two Spikes and one DPMS. One of the Spikes has been shot well into the
1000's. The only jam I've had on it was when I was using a suppressor on it and Im almost postive it was the ammo I was using.
For pratice get you a 22 conversion kit for it also. Its much cheaper to go shoot 500 rounds of 22 than it is to shoot 50 rounds of 223.
