Ed, refill is the easiest of any appointments. The Dr that does it even kids me that I could bring Macie by myself, lol. Her baclafin pump is a disked shaped thing like a hockey puck, that sits just under the skin right above her appendix area. Maybe a little further up, I'm certainly no Dr.
. Any way, you know the rubber "top" on a bottle of medicine that you stick a needle through and fill the syringe? The pump has one of those, and they know exactly where it is. They stick a needle in, withdraw all the backlofin out and then with a new needle fill it back up to the required volume and she's done. Well after mom sets up next appointment. It has to be done during a certain time, to long and the pump has a alarm saying it's almost empty. To short and insurance won't pay. So it's one we can't miss. And a patient on backlofin will go through withdrawals if the pump runs out.
