Walking on the top of the hind foot would be my concern. I had a lab that was doing that, vet said they could pin his hip (he had gotten shot) and he would be ok. so 1000 dollars later and 6 months later he stil couldnt use his hind leg, and his foot was knucklingover still. So then we amputated the leg. $800 more. I loved that dog and in retrospect, we should have put him down. He was stil happy to be in the house with us, but he was in pain for the next 3 years before we finally had to put him down. We stil miss taht dog alot, and that was 7 years ago. Seems like the surgerys made him have allergies,because after them, he was always swollen up allover and itching too. Hard Call/ Good luck
