    Options needed...... about dog...(long read)

Alright fellas.... some back ground information...

Got woken up monday morning at 3:30 by my dog.... wanted to go outside.. well I get up to let him out and I smell it before I see it... the house was covered from my bedroom door to the back door (about 50 ft total) with dog poo..... I was furious... got it all cleaned up and was all good...

Went out side at about 12:30 that day and noticed some blood spots on the back porch... figured one of the dogs got a hold of something... I was wrong...

Tuesday morning my sister wakes up and there is blood EVERYWHERE...... we find the source and its my boxer.. he has it coming out of his read, eyes, nose, and mouth.... she is freaking out.. Im half asleep and tell her to take him to the emergency room and if he is suffer, to put him down....

She takes him in.... his red blood count is at 19... supposed to be at 35.. the dr does something to him and stabalizes him....

she brought him home last night.. and he is on 17 pills with a heartburn pill....

my thoughts were if he is going to never recover to put him down... It breaks my heart to see him not be able to get around...he walks on the top of his rear foot (like folder over) and just is hurting. He lost a lot of blood and they said 2-3 weeks he should be fine...

What do yall think or would do? I mean we love the guy but we have a lot of money pits already and if he gets to become one, we are going to have to do something..

    This is what he has

Tough call man...if he is hurting while on the treatment and the prognosis is that he will not get better.. I would, sadly, put him down.

I would see what happens in 2-3 weeks and if it doesn't get any better or seems to be getting worse, I would probably go ahead and put him down to ease the suffering......

Judging by the tone of your first post, I think you want to do what I would do.

It's a hard call to make, though.

Every animal in our house has a number. Cats $400.00 - - Regular dog $1000.00 - - Tina is worth a lot due to the amount any litter would bring us.

We finally just had to put a number on it. There are tons of shelter and abandon pets that need homes...

hard call but i agree with what you said as far as money goes, if he's sufferin and not gettin any better do what needs to be done, it may sound cruel but in my opinion its far more cruel for him to suffer than it is to put him down.......I've been there done that and its never easy, sorry to hear about this

If it was a cat... .22 ammo is cheap

The family dog, they get the benefit of the doubt. The vet said should be fine in 2-3 weeks. Wait it out and see. I know it's difficult to see him in pain right now and you don't want him to suffer. But give him a chance and if there's no hope or just living on meds to have him around, that's no way to have a pet. Do what's right then and end the suffering.

Give him the 2 to 3 weeks and if he is not better and still suffering, you know what to do.

Well we gave him his time and he hasn't really improved all that much... His "club" foot became infected (no circulation) and started stinking... He is basically paralyzed with that leg.... Maybe he had a doggy stroke.... So today is the day we
Are going to put him down and let him quit suffering....

Just thought I would update y'all on pedro

You're doing right by the dog. Difficult thing - but right thing.
