I avoided this thread for a while now.... Wish I would have never clicked on it... Should have been a Paranoia warning or something!

            Severe MRSA

I recently had a run in with MRSA. I fractured my neck for a 2nd time in 7 months back in March. 2 days after surgery I woke up with 104 fever. They had to open my back up in clean the incision. Then they inserted a wound vac for 8 days. They put a medical port in my arm for 8 weeks and I had to inject 3 antibiotic IV's per day for those 8 weeks. I am still on oral antibiotic IV's for 6 months. That is a total of 8 months worth of antibiotics. Not fun at all. It is hard to do anything with an IV line hanging from your arm.

It was no joke for sure. My Staph had infected bone, flesh, blood and hardware (plates and screws in neck) the pic line in my arm went all the way to my heart as well. They did a good job as I never had any complications with it.

I work in a hospital and it is EVERYWHERE because its one of the only things that can survive in that environment. My wife had an abscess in her cheek. It was BRUTAL. I get some surface MRSA on my nose every once in a while, just like a cold sore. #1 place to find MRSA is AT THE GYM.
