Help---How to throw a cast net????

Have you learned how yet skinny?....

If you make it to Denton, I could show you how to grab and hold it in 30 secs and it'll allow you to throw a 7' (14' dia) and 8' (16' dia and not allowed in Texas ) easily. That 5' (10' dia) is a piece of cake. Bring it to Fishndude's TTH show booth and we'll catch some catfish. lol...

Heavier is better ...especially if you are castnetting something like shad in deeper water for stripers or baiting jugs.

Not yet. I threw it prolly 50 times in the yard today, and only one or two times it landed open. All the others it was like a taco or burrito.

Just from using common sense, I think I'm not getting it to rotate/spin and have centrifugal force help me open the net.

I am obviously not a natural.

I'm thinking that if I was going to help someone with something, that seeing them do it their 'way' would help me offer suggestions....and yes, it would be entertaining seening me throw a cast net like a professed expert bow fishing guide.

It takes lots of practice but don't feel bad. I have one with the cheater ring on it and I still have several of my throws that end up like a taco. Can't imagine trying to throw a 7'.
