You have to put on really short shorts. I mean REALLY short ones. Kindof like "you know who" would wear. Success comes to those who let it all hang out.

Help---How to throw a cast net????

Start out learning on a 4' diameter net. If you're right handed take the rope and attach to left wrist. Now grab the top of the net where all the lines go through the top bushing with your left hand, don't forget to first roll the rope into coils and hold it and the net in your left hand. Now take the bottom of the net where the weights are and hold it up with your left index finger. So you will be holding rope, net and one of the bottom weights with your left hand. Hold it up high and grab the weighted end still hanging with your right hand and pull it out to your right side. Now you are going to want to spin as you throw the left handed side out and as soon as it starts going release everything. You want to try to spin it out as if trying to make it spin. Don't know if that helps but its about the best I can explain it.

I throw it the exact opposite of this and I'm right handed. To me this would be how a lefty would throw it. Maybe I'm doing it bass ackward. None the less this technique works really well. If my memory serves me correctly I'm throwing a 10 footer.

Leave all net and rope on the ground. I'm right handed and tie rope off to my left hand. I also gather the rope and hold it all in my left hand. Then I take the ring(inside of the net) and pull it up with my left hand and while still holding the rope. So at this point You have the rope tied off to your left hand, all the gathered rope in your left hand, and the inside of the net. Again with the left hand bend down and pick up the out side of the net(weighted part) and grab one weight. Now with your right hand bend down and grab one weight and some net. The weight/net in your right hand should be about 3 to 4 feet away. This is the tricky part of it all and you will have to play around with distance between the left hand net and right hand net. Once to this point I stand with my left foot in front and right in back, slow and easily take the net back behind you and then bring it forward as if you were starting a hula hoop. The most technical part is the spacing between your out side net grabs, and the speed at which you rotate and trow the net. I learned at the age of 11 and once you get it down it is like riding a bike. Not sure if that helps or not. Its much easier in person to explain.

This may sound silly but which way are you rotating when you throw it? I would assume clockwise but thought I'd ask (since I seem to be doing it wrong ways for a rightie)

I keep the rope coiled in my left hand, pull the plastic spacer up and grab the net about half way down. I then take the main rope with the weights and place it in my teeth. Reach down and grab the weighted rope about an arms length away with my right hand. I sling across my body with my right hand leading and release the rope from my hand and teeth at the same time. I have been throwing a net this way since I was about 10 and I can throw up to a 7' net. I hope this is somewhat understandable, never realized how hard it would be to explain.

I know there is just a little hair of a learning curve I must get over to 'see' exactly what/how it is done.
