Thanks everyone.
Frosty took good care of me when I needed shoulder surgery. He did an excellent job on my shoulder. At that time he was also seeing people for back conditions and originally diagnosed my herniated disc via MRI.
He recommended an epidural back then (2007) but did think therapy was an option as well. I chose to just rehab and got it under control for a long time but lately it has really flared up.
I know he stopped seeing people for back injuries a few years ago and then moved to Westlake Orthopedics because I say him last year for a hand injury.
Genevieve, it's funny you mention Dr. Bunch because I just decided to call Texas Orthopedics and request a doctor that specialized in back injuries and I wound up with Dr. Bunch.
He prescribed prednisone for 5 days plus gave me percocet to help me sleep. I've not been able to sleep well lately due to the pain.
He also prescribed PT to learn the Mackenzi stretching program. He said if after 3 weeks I was still hurting I could get an MRI and go forward with an epidural.
He's a younger guy but he seemed to be comfortable with treating back conditions so I expect this is not his first rodeo.
I can tell you between taking the prednisone and the percocet just at night I'm able to sleep without pain the last two nights.
Thanks everyone for the recommendations. I didn't call Frosty because I had a good experience at Texas Ortho when he was there and I knew they had quite a few doctors that specialize in back issues.
