Orthopedic surgeon in Austin who specializes in back problems?

Anybody have a good one they go to?

I have been going to Frosty Moore for several years but he no longer specializes in back problems and he moved to Westlake. BTW, he's excellent with sports injuries like shoulders and knees.

I live North so would like to find a back specialist to get my herniated disc issue looked at.

My in-laws have used a Dr. Lutz. He's done my FIL's back, and some on my MIL's knees.

      Good luck

Only know of one here in San Antonio. Did my surgery a few months back. I had a ruptured disc at L5-S1.

I do not wish back pain on anyone.

Have you tried calling Dr. Moore to get his recommendations? Surely he knows some back specialist in that part of town. Also, you might contact this and follow the link to discectomy: http://www.neurotexasinstitute.com/

I don't refer anyone that far away so I don't know of any specific surgeons. You may want to look for a neurosurgeon though. It's gotten to where there aren't many orthopedic guys who want to deal with any kind of spinal surgeries. No matter if you use a neurosurgeon or an orthopedist you really want to find someone who does a lot of spinal surgery and not some guy that just does a few a year.

The question I like to ask is "If you or a member of your family had to have this surgery, who would you use?"

I go to dr. Bunch with texas orthopedics. I'm really happy with him. He's in cedar park and at their 183 office by the hospital.

Dr. Moore sent my mom to physical therapy when she needed shoulder surgery. She had calcium build up in her shoulder. It went on for a few years before she finally switched docs and had surgery. it seems a lot of docs just want to send you to physical therapy and not find the cause of the pain.
