    New world record axis hunt

A good buddy of mine Craig Ellwanger of All ABout Exotics put up a post on there FB page this weekend that someone was going to be hunting a possible new world record axis somewhere near junction. It has been stated that this axis is supposedly sporting 50" plus beams! Yes....50! I am keeping a close eye and contact with Craig to see what transpires and will keep all the fellow Green Screener's posted.

I would like to be along for the "hunt". I know of way too many of these "world record" hunts to be nothing more than staged kills inside of pens of an acre or so. I truly hope this is a legitimate hunt. The SCI books are littered with exotics that were killed as I have described. Something I refused to be a part of but I know guys that call that "guiding".

THis is supposedly free range which makes this even more remarkable. we have some really good axis that will push 37" beams but i just can't grasp an animal have another foot of bone on top of that. If this does in fact happen i will post the pics up as soon as i get them.

that is hard to believe but I know there are those running around... We have numerous high 30's running around and last year one was killed that had 4-5 inches broken off the tips that would have pushed him over 40....

                  Im following this one

A 50+ inch Axis?? Highly unlikely. If legit, that bruiser would never be beat considering the current world record is 41".

If that is the case I would really love to see video of it. I have been guiding a very long time and have yet to see any axis that remotely looked like he hit 40 + inches. This would surely be a hunt that needed to be on film. Good luck to the hunter.

According to the FB posting, this is on private, low fence, family land. I hope he can do it. Was sposed to be this past weekend. Will be interesting following this. If he is in fact that large, he has offspring, and if they are anything like whitetails, let's hope his momma is still alive and breeding!!!!!
