I have a Mannington Engineered in my house. I like it, but I went too dark and every spec of dust shows, and it's Hand Scraped and Distresed.

I have installed them all. Laminate is VERY durable, but also the loudest of them all and doesn't feel or sound like wood.

Job Built Solid wood looks awesome and can be refinished but the most Expensive.

Engineered wood is the middle ground. I can also help you with an installer and pricing. Odd to me that your installer isn't directing you in the right direction. Get two bids. There is more to it than just the flooring (ie, transitions, quarter round, type of adhesive used, etc...)

and SEAL THE CONCRETE!!!! no matter what. If a glue down, it should be sealed, then float to level.

X2 on no Bamboo. Does not hold up yo wear even in low traffic areas. All prefinished wood floors are going to scratch. Look for a darker color so the scratches can be filled in better.
