    Wood floor question

Which would be preferred between solid wood, engineered wood, and bamboo in Katy area climate in low traffic dining room and study. Wife doesn't want laminate so really not an option.

Engineered is an excellent choice. Although all 3 should do well in your area if installed properly. Engineered will save you some money as well.

From one of the best installers in H-town...(not me) Do NOT use Bamboo down here..looks great, but will absorb water(humidity) and swell, twist, and mold up. Solid( as in 1 piece, or a laminated wood like plywood? True solid you can refinish many times, wood laminate could be possible, but would depend on how thick the top layer is. Engineered is awesome, but you can't refinish.
will the be whole house? or?

Bamboo is not a favorite round that area because of high humidity.solid oak or brizillian cherry would be best and any where from 1/2 to 3/4 thick.Hope this helps u brother.

Will be study, dining room, and master bedroom. The solid we liked was an African mahogany. The engineered was a birch. Not sure if the solid was a true solid or plywood type.

Good installer. I own a flooring company in DFW and would recommend staying away from Bamboo also. Feel free to PM me if you want an unbiased opinion.

Yep, not bamboo. FIL put it in his house and it scratches very easily. We went the laminate route cause of the pets and kids like to skate across it. Not a scratch.

If your going to glue down solid 3/4 wood make sure they use the correct adhesive.
