Depends on where you spend most of your time.

Really tough to answer, depends on the number and locations of towers where you are. My wife/kids have Cingular which is horrible, we're waiting for the contractual 2-year period to finish. I recently got Verizon, and it's 10x better, and I get coverage in my house, which Cingular will get in one room, and then not in another, sometimes.

Unless you get a phone with an unusually long antenna, I don't think the handset design itself helps or hurts much.

I guess one of those boosters that goes on your truck is best.

Are you asking about the phone itself or the service carrier? I have Cingular and have had a number of different phones and it all sucks anywhere north and west of Mineral Wells!

Just the phone. I know some phones are better than others.

If you are talking about the phone itself, I am a firm believer in Nokias...side by side with the same provider they work better than any other brand I have seen. People at the ranch are always borrowing my phone even if they are with the same service. I have also been told by several different phone retailers that Nokias get the best reception.

As far as service companies, I can't help you on the Houston/East Texas area but coverage with ATT/Cingular is by far the best in South Texas in my opinion.

I recently switched to Cingular AT&T, best move I have ever made. I would loose several calls a day on Sprint, but I have only lost one call in weeks with AT&T. Bought the I Phone.
