At&T here as well. Works almost everywhere I go. Even their old analog phones would work where we mule deer hunt but the new GRS, or whatever they are, phones don't now.

I have Cingular it works everywhere but around my lease. I thought about checking to see if Alltel had prepaid & just keep it at the lease.

As far as phones go I have a good friend who is a tech for Motorola and he carries a Nokia phone.

Cingular/ATT works great for me in S.Tex and Mexico areas. Sometimes, I think that its just the phone you may have......

Does anyone have a Samsung Blackjack i607 from AT&T? I am considering this Smartphone? How is the reception, and do you like it overall? I can get it free with new service, and would really like to get a PDA to store appointments, etc.

I have Cingular/AT&T and I can say that it's not always the service that's the problem.

I had Razr's and put up with dropped calls etc... My wife and daughter also have Razr's and got dropped calls in the same area's I did...lead me to think it was Coverage issues.

Then I upgraded to the Palm Treo 750 and get coverage everywhere I got and the spots the Razrs would drop I don't anymore.

My point is that it could be the phone so if your asking for opinions you may want to ask what type of phone they use as well.

ive been wit att/cingular since 1997. since 2001 ive been on there unlimited everything business/data (internet) plan. i travel from the top of steamboat, co., juarez, mexico, park cities, utah, san diego, calif., appalchian mnts., tenn, beaumont, tx, seattle, wash. etc... you get the pick... ive had supwe high end blackberries and razor type phones. ive learned you get what you pay for. when i had my black berry i never had issues. when i tried cheaper fashionable phones i had more issues. so when it comes down to it you get what you pay for. if you want great service pay for it phone and service.

Keith- My girlfriend has the BlakkJack and she loves it! She gets great reception around here, but I have not tested it in other areas. I'm gonna go uot on a limb and say that the reception is going to be as good or better than most. I have the Blackberry Pearl and I am very happy so far with the reception it gets, even in the hill country where I hunt. And that is still a problem area for cell phones. I don't think you could go wong with either one!

What company is your service with? Hwy 154 between SS and Lake Fork has numerous dead spots with our Sprint service. Can you talk on your phone driving that stretch of Hwy 154?

Keith- I have at&t/Cingular and I drop my signal shortly right there in that bottom before big smiths. After that I get service on into yantis. It's not perfect but it does work except that one spot. I'm typing this on my blackberry now and I live between big Smith's and yantis.
