I have a two year old black lab and I can't get him to quit chewing up my water hoses. He did it alot when he was younger, not that he's old but had stopped. Now he's done it twice I the last four days. What can I do? I had him chained up and don't want to do that again if I don't have too.

agree he is likely bored... but with the weather change - first pretty hot days of the year, he may also be a little more thirsty than normal and may be trying to get to water as well. My lab would do that when his bowl outside got warm. Get him something to chew on... I had success also by utlizing "corrective action in an assertive manner" with parts of the chewed up hose as well

Mine quit chewing up my hoses after she was a year old. Before that it didn't matter what I did. She turned a garden hose into a soaker hose PDQ! I never thought to spray Off on it though...That might work.
I just started putting my hoses up where she couldn't get her dern jibs on them, after I used them.

He is bored , my 2 yr old female lab was chewing everything she could find. I went to walmart and bought a bulk bag of tennis balls and she chews them up to nothing and has learned to leave everything else alone. I am also taking her out morning and evening and letting her chase tennis balls I hit with a tennis raquet until she gets too tired to do it. That has totally stopped all destructive behaviour at our house. Good luck

Also, spray your water hose with "Deep Woods Off" skeeter spray.
