Up here in the northeast we have lots of red fox. We hear that all the time. It gets your attention for sure!

I've heard this sound at night a few times. I also thought it was a hawk or an owl. Then I bought a FoxPro caller. They have a sound on there that is labeled Red Fox Rally that sound just like this.

I was calling one night back in college, and I shot a grey fox that was running away (after my buddy woke me up to shoot). Hit her in the butt, and she screamed like that. I couldn't get a 2nd shot off fast enough. That was crazy.

Living in IL. most of my life, I've heard this a lot. It scared the crap out of me everytime when it happened while I was coonhunting. You would be suprised how many fellas thought this was a Mt. Lion in the woods. Think I just found me a new shock call after hearing that gobbler sound off after that first scream.
