Have you ever dry fired a bow?

Just had my bow get dry fired. Limbs aren't cracked and every thing seems to be fine but the string has come off the cams. Should I expect there to be more damage or is this pretty typical?

Never....I got it drilled in my head to never draw a bow without an arrow from an early, early age.

Saw one today that had been dry fired. String was damaged and both cams were bent. Have yours checked out.

My wife still has a bow that she has dry fired 7 times and nothing happened during any of those times. Personally I have never done it.

I did it once. I had accidentally tapped my release trigger at a fractional draw. The arrow just plopped in front of me. Then I proceeded to pull to full draw and fired. Eek! In my mind, the slip fire didn't send an arrow down the range, so therefore I still had an arrow. Wrong!!

I had my bow checked out and was absolutely fine. However, I was only pulling 30lb at the time.

Hope you have the same good fortune.
