not an anatomy pic, but i think if you're in the circle, you're good, quartering away even better

Move that circle up 3-4 inches, and at least 2 to the right, and you're there. The back end of that circle is liver & gut. There's more lung a little higher on the animal.

the nilgai draws comparison to the cape buffalo because they can take some serious lead (rifle hunters) and are difficult to kill (bow hunting)

Chunky had to hunt Nilgai 20x's before he killed one with his longbow ..... hopefully he will chime in

Javalina Russ guided hunters for them and KNOWS shot placement . He can provide some insight

since you're bowhunting, find some well travelled trails, perhaps water holes, or set up along fence lines near fresh piles of dung. Nilgai often "drop bombs" in the same place

the nilgai anatomy is similar to african game and hogs as the lungs/heart are further up front in the chest cavity. I would not aim for the same kill zone / vital area as on a white tail

                Chunky's nilgai (congrats brother )

IMO, the red dot is your "money shot"

being an african animal their vitals are pushed into the chest more than a whitetail. When i shot my oryx(same vitals as a nilgai) I put it right in the middle of the shoulder and it sprayed blood for the 10 yards it went.

They aren't actually african, but their vitals sit about the same anyway. Shoot about middle of the body horizontally and and a bit farther forward than you would a deer. If you are bowhunting, wait for a quartering away shot and go behind the shoulder. They are very tough and you don't want to try and go through the shoulder. For sure shoot a solid fixed blade. I'm a huge fan of Rage and other expandables, but IMO this is not the animal to hunt with one.

                        They are from India.

For a Rifle, there is a spot about 2/3 up the shoulder that really drops them. Move that white circle in post #4 straight up and about even with the beard and thats it. I've never seen a bowkilled nilgai my 2 cents end here.....
