Ok, here is my take as we have killed quite a few.

Use a rage or some other giant cutting broadhead. You ARE NOT going to get a pass through regardless if you hit them well so get something that will allow them to bleed so you can track them.

Shoot higher than everyone is telling/showing you. At the lowest I would shoot them at the top of the white circle.

They have a HUGE lungs and small heart for their size. Hit the top side of the lungs and you will kill them in 200 yards or less. Hit them low in the lungs and they will run forever. Hit them in the heart and they will run forever, cut the supply to the heart off and they will die.

Heart shots are tough on these guys as they sit behind the front shoulder, higher than you think. On the lat big bull I shot I "cut" his heart but got mostly low lungs and we tracked him for 1100 yards before my dogs recovered him. Without dogs say bye bye to him.

So aim higher for the top of the lungs/aorta and you will be good. Liver shots also kill them quickly.

Lots of advice here, thanks. Looks like I will just have to put the pin on his shoulder and close my eyes and hope I hit the correct spot

no, really thanks for all the input. I will try to do a live hunt if I have cell service.

Spot on, only heart shoot them if your using a 180gr. and up Accubond to break the shoulder and shred the heart with bone/lead fragments.

Also give them at least an hour before going to look for one. They're adrenaline is supercharged compared to a whitetail. Give them some time calm down and get to hurting or expire.

They are actually from India but the rest of this is true. Straight up the leg about 1/3 of the way up is the best place to shoot a nilgai.
