how to keep rattlesnakes away???

trying to figure out how i can keep rattlesnakes away from my house. i killed 2 so far this week and i think 8 last year. these are big snake all over 4 foot long. i keep my grass mowed and everything weedeated. open to any ideas

Get some cats. We had a couple that stayed around the barn at our lease campsite & we found snakes laying around that they would kill.

Agree with the cat idea. I have two 12 year old cats that keep me snake free for the most part. Mine are fixed but still mark territory and it's my understanding that the cat "smell" helps keep them away. Plus they kill them when they find them.

my wife is working on getting some cats.... I’m not sure why the snakes like coming up to my house so much. i read online that rattlesnakes don't like diesel. so i sprayed all my fence line with diesel, trying to make a barrier. well the snake i killed last night was sitting right inside of the barrier. not sure what made the snake rattle, maybe it was diesel burning its skin or something....

mongoose would probably work the best. anyone have any for sale...LOL

We were having problems with them here at our pipe yard, so we went to the co-op and they have a pesticide that you pour out around a building or around the area you want to keep snakes out of and it worked. We had killed like 4 in 2 weeks and put that stuff out and didnt see anymore around the building. Hope this helps

yeah thought about getting some guineas... i remeber as a kid my grandmother had some and they would make all kinds of noise when they saw a snake.
