We've sent home made cookies over.

I suggest vaccume packing anything you send, the beef jerkey would be a good one to seal tight so it stays fresh!

    Good thing you are doing!

I have decided to start out by sending a care package to a fellow TBHer in Iraq who has followed along and posted up on quite a few of the thread I have started over the last few months.

It all kinda hit me this past weekend when Concho Man and I were doing our live weekend thread. We were having fun, living life, making sausage, hunting, and just doing it up.

I had a moment there when I read a post by a TBHer in Iraq...I thought to myself, man, I sure take a lot of things for granted at times...and sooooo many people make some serious sacrifices in life for me to be able to do the things I do...and they are posting up to my little live fun weekend thread.

I feel I have to give back...even in a small way.

I am sure there are plenty of other TBHers out there who would love a care package. Hope they post up.

It is a great thing your doing. I know I can't wait to get home. I can't speak for other military TBHers, but it is an honor to serve this great country we live in. Even tho I am in the military, I feel the same way. When I am at home, I think about the soldiers who are over here. Think that is why after my last deployment I got put on anti-depressants. Sucks, when I am home, I want to be here, and when I am here I want to be home. We all take the little things for granted. At least we have the green screen to help pass the time.

I would have to say that the best packages I received on my last deployment were a side from my fishing gear were a large package of venison links that I was able to share with my whole platoon (about 80) and a box with hunting and fishing magazines.

Im still working the APO's. I've been sent two so far, but they're incomplete, no unit name or soldier. Im just waiting for them to respond with the info.

Glad to see so many of you contributing!!! My son is about to make his third deployment. On his last deployment I posted on another forum asking where I could get a specific item I wanted to send. Ended up with a bunch of people wanting to contribute money to send more. Told them I wasn't interested in doing that/coordinating/accepting contributions. I was severely brow beaten over it and finally agreed to do it. I was astounded at the response. Started receiving checks from people I'd never met, only knew from the forum. Ended up making two BIG shipments of things for the guys. I know they really appreciated it, and those that contributed wanted nothing in return.

Even had one person donate a case of very expensive scotch to give to the guys on their return!!

Ya'll keep it up. Their sacrifice is well worth the little time and effort it takes to hopefully make their time over there a little more pleasant.
