Any fly fisherman here interested in doing a little swapping??

I'm up here in the middle of fly fishing heaven....less than an hour from the giant salmonfly hatches on the Gunnison and less than 2 hours from the green drake hatch oon the Frying pan......

Anybody interested in swapping some Rocky mtn. trout fishing for some red/speck fly fishing?

If yoou aren't familiar with the hatches or rivers I mentioned...google them. Both are famous, and the Frying Pan is one of the only pllaces in the US where you can catch the trout slam (Rainbow, Brown, Brook, and Cutthroat) in the same water. I have personally caught them all in one day up there (July 2010) and am now ruined for life.

Best times to come up would be either mid June (salmon fly hatch on the Gunnison - one of the only places you will see 20 plus inch browns rising to dry flies in broad daylight), or 1st 1/2 of July (drake hatch on the Frying Pan).

Anyone interested in doing a little swap-a-rooski?

I'd be interested, but I haven't flyfished for reds or specks yet. I'd hate to take you out and not have a sure thing for you. But I have some friends that fish the coast and I could see what they could help me with.

Would like to try, but have never taken the time to learn.

I have flyfished in saltwater pretty often, but it has always been off a few different private piers, and not actually out in a boat. Have done really phenomenal on the piers though. Had nights on the piers when the only thing the fish would take was a fly and they wouldn't even give anything else a second look. I have a buddy, that might be interested in this deal though.

Heck, dont need a sure thing, just someone with an idea of a place to go!
I grew up on the coast and never even thought about fly fishing until I moved up here and it is now pretty much my #1 outdoor past time since we have short big game seasons/

I just got back from fishing Magatgorda bay and South bay this weekend for reds and trout. Real windy and only hooked several small reds and trout. I use a bait caster, spinning and fly rod with artificial and live bait.

I also paddle off shore a few miles to get into sharks and what ver else shows up. I have used the fly rod off shore too but usually the boat rods with cut bait.

I do not own a power boat, but have a few kayaks.

Fly fishing can be tough as it can get windy and casting all day can get exhausting. Though it is still fun.

There are several folks on here who fish the coast, but i would be down to hot the coast and do some fishing. shoot me an email.

I'm new to fly fishing, I usually end up switching to my spinning gear after a few frustrated casts. Trip from 4/16: http://discussions.texasbowhunter.co...d.php?t=205706

I wish I had reds and specks around Abilene. I'd be all over your offer.

No reds here in the Metromess. But as stated above, you south Texas boys should jump on this quick. You would be in for a real treat.

PM sent, bay boat and kayaks, but the winds have been really bad so far this year.
