I went to Camp La Junta as a kid in Hunt Texas and absolutely loved it. All outdoor related stuff and a blast
In high school I was a counselor at a camp called outdoor Texas that was called Outdoor Texas Camp. This was started by a man named David Todd and is an absolutely awesome program. He has all sorts of different camps ranging from duck hunting camps, fishing, saltwater, hunting, and it goes on. This camp isn't run by a bunch of random instructors but it is professionals. Dog training champions, survival experts, Haydel game calls, professional fisherman. During the hunting camp, your kid will get his hunter education certificate. There are several different camps like i said that are at different locations based on what they are geared towards.
Definitely check it out, and if you talk to David Todd tell him Patton Drewett sent you
Look at the site and I promise you won't be dissapointed. PM me for questionsLast edited by Patton; 02-12-2011, 06:35 PM.

Texas Brigades
Ages 13-17
Wildlife Intensive Leadership Development
The Texas Brigades is a wildlife-focused leadership development program for high school youth (ages 13-17). There are four different camps: Bobwhite Brigade, Buckskin Brigade, Feathered Forces, and Bass Brigade. You will be introduced to habitat management, hone your communication skills, and develop a land ethic. Top wildlife professionals and resource managers serve as instructors and mentors. Each camp is 4 ½ days long.
The camps are held on private ranches and at environmental camps in different areas of the state. In addition to learning animal anatomy and behavior, botany, nutrition, habitat management, population dynamics, etc., you will learn valuable leadership skills. You will write news releases, practice public speaking, and find out how to handle radio and television interviews.
Through these activities, you will develop valuable life skills that will help you regardless of your goals.
If you are interested in biology, conservation, leadership, or just appreciate the outdoors, you should consider applying to one of these camps. Find a career, meet new friends, and become an ambassador for conservation.

Abbie is going to Pine Cove again this year. She loved it last year and we rebooked right away. They have alot of scholarship money available and they encouraged us to apply, even though we didn't think we qualified. They gave us about $400 towards the cost.
